What is Slip Disc?

 

The spinal column is made of up 26 bones which are cushioned by disks. The disks protect the bones by absorbing the shocks from daily activities like walking, lifting, and twisting. Slipped disk is a condition in which a disk in the spinal column becomes displaced from its normal position.

 

Symptoms of a slipped disk include:

·         pain and numbness, most commonly on one side of the body

·         pain that extends to your arms and/or legs

·         Unexplained muscle weakness

·         Aching, or burning sensations in the affected area

·         pain that worsens after standing or sitting

 

 

 

Why a person gets slip disk?

Slipped disk is a condition in which a disk in the spinal column becomes displaced from its normal position which presses on the spinal nerves, causing pain. Slipped disk usually develops over a period of time. Sometimes it can be caused by sudden movements and weak spinal muscles.

 

Reasons such as

1. Bending forward awkwardly.

2. Lifting too heavy weights

3. Overweight

4. Unhealthy lifestyle

5. Aging factors

Precautions:

5. Pregnant women should only practice Yoga and other exercises only under the supervision of an expert otherwise do not practice any exercise by watching videos or website material.

6. People with Slip disc should avoid all forward bending exercises while sitting OR Standing.
